Oh what a journey it all has been! Walking into midweek with many victories and revelations…This year, this month, this past week, this past decade... the next couple of days. Just last Thursday, we were celebrating the last full moon of the month, the year, and the decade. This Saturday we welcome the next cycle, the Winter Solstice, and round out our year....I have used this time for much reflection and self discover, mastery, envisioning, and just BEing. I invite you to take a look at the last few weeks of December with me as we prepare for this new phase. Transitioning and cycling through the seasons of life.
12:12, 12-12 To some that may not mean anything and to others that may mean a whole lot. This full moon resonated with many due to its fullness, and its completeness. For others the repetition of the number 12 created greater significance around this time. What's so special about a number repeating? Well, certain numbers hold a higher frequency or vibrational tone in which we are treated to heightened levels of awareness and communication with the beyond. These numbers are know as Angel Numbers. ~Angel numbers are sequences of numbers that carry divine guidance by referring to specific numerological meanings. In Numerology, the divine science of numbers, it is understood that each number carries with it a specific vibrational meaning that goes beyond a simple quantity. Numbers have a vibrational nature that is similar to the vibrational frequency of the angelic realm. Each number has its own vibrational meaning that will allow you to interpret the messages you are receiving from Source.~ Number 1: A new start, authority. Will help with leadership. Appears when we need a little push and motivaion. Number 2: Duality, harmony, and peace. Bringing feelings of calm and assurance in skill/abilities. Pursue your dreams! Number 12: Confidence. Brings you out of that depressive/negative state into your power and reminds you to work hard, stay motivated in order to achieve your dreams/goals. Number 121: Defines your real purpose in the world. Number 212: Joy and the power of positive thinking. Use this positive opportunity to achieve your goals. Number 1212: Peace, support, gratitude. Take some time to figure out the relationships you are in. Are you willing to take the good with the bad? 1212: Is a reminder about the importance of positive thinking and the power of motivation. We are the creators of our own destiny, and the way we think is the way we live. If our mind is full of negative thoughts, then we cannot progress and make anything good out of our lives. On the other hand, when we surround ourselves with positive people and motivation, nothing can stop us from achieving greatness! Full Moon Vibes: Full moons bring things to the light! One side of the moon is facing the sun while the other remains in darkness. Light brings an awareness to everything, encouraging you to take a closer look and even shifting our perspective. The full light provides us the opportunity to acknowledge something. What have you been hiding from or putting on hold? What do you desire the most? How does your perfect life look like? Who is part of your perfect life? How do you spend your time? Take a deep look at yourself and face your light. Each Full moon (and New moon) represents new beginnings, influencing and empower you to step out of your comfort zone and embrace bold changes in your life or step back and reflect on personal issues close to your heart. Take some time during a full moon/new moon and let go of the past and welcome in the new! December's Cold Moon. The December Cold Moon is a time of rebirth. Your head will be busy bringing you feelings of either giddiness or anxiety. Embrace and confront these feelings, as now is the best time to recognize what makes you feel this way. (I definitely have been confronting all the feels during this time, yikes!) “The full moon is the culmination of a cycle. It’s all about peak intensity: concentrated energy from the preceding phase overflowing, spilling out into emotion, action, and matter. Factor in the influence of Gemini, a highly cerebral sign that pivots on a dime, and we may find ourselves with an overwhelming desire to unburden ourselves of our thoughts, opinions, and truths on multiple topics.” ~ Diane Ahlquist, author of The Moon + You: Your Guide to Finding Energy, Balance, and Healing with the Power of the Moon Your life is about to take a shift... 12 messages from the Angel Number 12:
Action Steps:
Following the Full Moon: So then, immediately following the full moon was a weekend of a magical af meteor shower (the Geminid Meteor Shower to be exact)...I was in Hilton Head SC (the town is amazingly dark!) and was able to experience the magical shower while on a early morning drive. SOOOO worth it! The next meteor shower, The Ursids, will next peak on the night of Dec 21-22, 2019. It's not as active as the Geminid, however, its still a meteor shower...still awesome! And then there's the Solstice: The Winter Solstice occurs this year on Dec 21 (those magical two numbers again! This entire season is screaming CHANGE! If you haven't yet, lets all just take a leap of faith on ourselves and live the life we've been putting off for too long!!!) 2020 is going to be full of changes period...Let's actively start implementing some new rituals, experiences, behaviors into our lives now so the Universe doesn't have to keep subtly screaming at us! We ARE going to find new ways of doing things! December is balancing these energies to prepare us for what is to come. (Stay strong, Stay Positive, You've got this!) Embrace what the Universe has to offer and magical things will happen. Angel Number 21: it is time for new beginnings and changes (seems so serendipitous at this point right). These changes will bring harmony and balance in your life. There may be new opportunities in front of you, stay alert! Don't allow these opportunities to fade away. Stay encouraged and positive throughout this season of change. You may be going through a transitional period (I'm way too familiar with those these days, phew!). Know that balance is INSIDE of you and BE AWARE of your own inner powers! Be ready to give as well as to receive. Stay (or become) Assertive! Believe in YOURSELF and in the Intelligence and Powers of the Universe. Everything is working for YOU! Rest, Reflect, Build for the awakenings bound to occur this spring. Ritual Acts Give Life Meaning The longest night of the year is honored by many traditions as a sacred and rich time. Regardless of your holiday traditions, this time of year can be honored by reflecting on the past year and participating in your own personal ritual of light or Ending & Beginnings. When we make time to acknowledge the gifts of Spirit we cultivate a greater capacity to receive our own inner light. By enacting a personal ritual you can celebrate the dark and the light and invite balance and harmony into your life!
Breaking out of our comfort zones can be really challenging, however, we cannot continue to live in fear and intimidation because we feel safe. Be brave and tell yourself that EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE, then try like heck to accomplish those goals! YOU DESERVE AN AMAZING LIFE.

Being an entrepreneur has its pluses and minuses and agreeably, this career path is not for everyone. Though there has been much hype about the creative business endeavor, the journey to business success is nothing short of an adventure. With twists and turns, highs and lows, there are pluses and minuses to having your own and doing things your way. And if that's not enough, during the process, there is much to be learned about your own mental health and mental fortitude. In the beginning, there is an excitement and an invigoration in the process of working on your own, setting your own schedule, running things your way. Waking up early, on purpose. Ready to concur the world and express your passion to everyone you encounter. Passion dripping from your lips. Ideas running through your mind at a million miles a minute. Enthusiasm spewing through your veins like a warm eternal caffeinated liquid gold. Thoughts are always on building, branding, succeeding. Planning and preparing for your envisioned success which all conspires to your very first sell. You are officially in business! Everything is going great and you have the feeling of being on top of the world. AND THEN.... You HIT A WALL. It all comes crashing down, as if the rug were just pulled from underneath you. Bills are coming due and you've had only one sale in one, two, three weeks/months...There seems to be no end (another sale) in sight. The light at the end of the tunnel seems so dim and soooo far away. You feel as if you are all alone in the dark and no one cares what you have to offer. Nothing is going according to plan and you're afraid that you have finally proven all the neh sayers right. "Who do you think you are?! You're crazy for thinking you can pull this off! You don't know the first thing about owning a business, being an entrepreneur, or running a company. You're just setting yourself up for failure. You may as well get a regular job like the rest of us...blah blah blah." This becomes the most challenging thing you've ever done and you can't seem to move further along in your business. YOU'VE FAILED. You couldn't meet your sales target for that month. You lose all creativity. All your ideas and insightful moments have seemed to disappeared. Ups and downs, highs and lows, wins and losses, week in and week out. Being in business for yourself is as much a practice in mental stamina as it is emotionally. Evaluate and then re-evaluate every step of the way, finding the techniques that work and developing new strategies to be successful in both business and in life. Developing strategies along the way to lead to successful outcomes are imperative to your future self and to your success. These feelings and sensations can boost or derail progress within your business as well as within your personal life. In this article, we will discuss how your mental health plays a role in your overall well-being as a business owner as well as in relationship with yourSELF. "You always pass failure on the way to success.” ~Mickey Rooney Mental Health and Entrepreneurship: As entrepreneurs, we are constantly stressed, mainly due to the created uncertainty we take on and must adjust to in the beginning stages of business. Uncertainty in your immediate financial future, uncertainty in the amount of time it takes in order for your company to succeed, uncertainty in the daily hustle and grind it takes in order to stay afloat. Always adjusting, tweaking, adapting to the economic climate you are in and creating for yourself. The best way to remain confident (besides fake it 'til you make it) physically, mentally, and emotionally is to dig deep for that internal strength and be a FIGHTER. Be A FIGHTER: What does it mean to be a FIGHTER? How can you grow stronger physically and mentally?! What are some of the ways to strengthen your mind when feeling low or in a slump? Be a F.I.G.H.T.E.R! F- Foresight: Prepare yourself financially and work towards mentally and emotionally rebounding from failures and setbacks. They are a part of the journey. I- I AM: Never stop believing in YOU! No failure should be taken as a marker for your abilities to accomplish anything or succeed. G-Grit: Actively work on your strengths. Energy flows where attention goes. H-Hope: Have business mentors, read books/successful stories on those who have not given up. Meet positive people. Invest in yourself and continue to learn and grow. Celebrate the small wins! (This is a great exercise in increasing hope and strengthening your mental well-being) T-Therapist: Find someone to support you, someone you can talk to when all seems hopeless. Write/Journal, join a group of small business owners/entrepreneurs. E-Emotional Support: A circle of friends to de-stress with. Always make time for friends and family, love, well-being, and self care! This makes you more efficient and less mentally vulnerable. R-Reinvent: If something isn't working, CHANGE IT! Your biggest asset is your mind. Every effort should go into strengthening it. “Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” ~Zig Ziglar Finding the Balance: Learning how to BE in difficult situations and emotions is an essential key to mastering the mind. Seven strategies for optimizing psychological well-being in entrepreneurs has been identified by Megan Bruneau and is linked in the article below. 7 Strategies Every Entrepreneur Should Employ To Optimize Their Mental Health "Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew When I bit off more than I could chew But through it all, when there was doubt I ate it up and spit it out I faced it all and I stood tall And did it my way" Frank Sinatra In the end, in the words of Frank Sinatra "I DID IT MY WAY!" I hope these steps can help you find/maintain the courage to journey along your path and do things your way. However, if you feel that life has gotten you down and you are contemplating ending it (suicide) please seek help! Okay y'all, so plants seem to be all the rage now, and for good reason! Are you like me and can't open your IG without seeing pictures of #plants? From indoor to outdoor to #palntshelfie and everything in between, I'm all about a good plant pic/fix (I'm all the way into Cacti right now! I'm not obsessed but com'on! What's your plant fix these days?) So now that things in the #plantkingdom are on the up and up, the medicine world is taking notice (come, step into the light!). In recent news: Doctors are prescribing HOUSEPLANTS for Anxiety, Depression, and Loneliness. Now y'all, WINNING!
In recent articles from treehugger and Inc., it is reported that doctors in the UK are giving patients indoor plants to help boost wellness (yeasss!). We all know that nature is a powerful healer and a powerful wellness booster (all science comes from studying nature anyway). And now it's being solidified with various studies that we need to get back into nature. Finding wide open spaces like a park where you can be fully immersed in a natural environment, buying plants to keep at home, or even getting into community gardening...all the possibilities. So back to the docs in the UK... Patients are being recommended/prescribed herbs, vegetables, and potted plants to care for. After a while, they bring them back to the medical office and transfer them to a communal garden. This is based on the idea that spending time in green spaces can help to lift your mood. Of course, houseplants and a community gardens aren't going to solve everyone's anxiety and depression, but, it's a step in the right direction. Getting outside: The Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku or "forest bathing," includes spending extended periods in natural environments to boost health and well being. This isn't just getting outside for a jog or crossfit/bootcamp style workout in the city. It's more of chillin in the trees style vibe. Think mindful experiences with nature. The focus is to slow down and allow your senses to experience nature and all the elements that exist within it (minus traffic sounds. Let's try to get as far away from traffic noise if possible). Take your shoes off and let your feet feel the ground beneath you (grounding). Pause to listen to the birds/animals around you. Reach out and touch a tree, flower, blade of grass etc. Slow your breathing down and breathe deeply smelling the oxygen rich air surrounding you. And for a full immersive experience, many followers of shinrin-yoku sit and sip tea. (bliss!) Benefits of #plantlife There are many benefits that come from being in nature as well as housing plants indoors and sharing in community. Subtle changes on a cellular/molecular level to gross changes occur within your body that brings health, healing, and happiness. Some changes noted from just housing plants are increased oxygen levels, staving off illness, cleaning the air in your home, boosting healing, nudging creativity, relieving stress, and fostering happiness. The fact that even just a few potted plants around your home or desk could have a real effect on your well-being is shown here. The benefits of outdoor plants and forest bathing have been studied and shows that spending time among trees boosts the number of "killer cells" in the immune system that are key to beating infections and fighting cancer. Spending time in forests also reduces blood pressure and levels of the stress hormone cortisol. Much of this has come from the realization that trees release antimicrobial essential oils that can produce slightly narcotic effects, and sometimes even act as a mild antidepressant. A recent British study showed that people saw significant health benefits from just two hours a week outdoors. Bringing the outdoors in: Many events are now popping up all over cities hosting classes where you can create your own indoor plant experience: ie plant&pour & the zen succulent DIY terrarium bar to name a few I've checked out. Or, even just walking the aisles of your local plant nursery, lowes or home depot's garden center, or your local community garden. You are bound to find a #plantbaby to love and care for! There is something for everyone, from the green thumb to the "I've killed another one", plant varietals are vast. Learning and watching them grow and even produce food that you can enjoy brings another level to the entire experience. Don't limit yourself to options here...YouTube is a great resource for plant care tips and a little bit of trial and error goes a long way. Experiment, have fun, and learn all while healing yourself and boosting those feel good endorphins. You are worth it! And the green grass grows all around all around, the green grass grows all around: If you're still thinking that's crazy and are thinking 'NO WAY!, this is NOT for me', other practices in Scotland and Canada have been sending patients out into nature and even to art museums to improve their well-being for a while now. Amazon just invested in a dome filled with 40,000 plants for its Seattle headquarters. There's a reason you look out the window and seek nature. It's important to give your brain brain micro-breaks throughout the day. It's something that a lot of us do naturally when we're stressed or mentally fatigued. It helps with concentration and maintaining performance across the workday -explains lead researcher Kate Lee. If you've ever had the common experience of finding the answer to a difficult problem while walking in the woods or a park, this is why!!! So let's embrace the beauty of nature and all go out and treat our selves to a new plant this weekend right!? I mean it is for our health/well-being after all. "I'm gonna be a mighty king, so enemies beware. I'm gonna be the main event like no king was before. I'm brushing up on looking down, I'm working on my ROAR..." (Songwriters: Elton John / Tim Rice I Just Can't Wait to Be King lyrics © Walt Disney Music Company)
One of my favorite songs from the movie "The Lion King" was "I just can't wait to be King"...many years later, I still love the song but in a different way. As a kid we are always enticed by the luxuries of growing older and being in charge. As an adult, the meaning has shifted for me. As an entrepreneur, the song personifies my journey as a small business owner. The odds may be stacked against you however your vision and determination are there! The strength and resilience remain in tack and you preserver no matter what anyone has to say. "No one saying, 'do this', No one saying, 'be there', No one saying, 'stop that', No one saying, 'see here'... Free to do it all my wayyy!" Has this song changed in meaning for anyone else? Life is all about perception, once our perception shifts, so does our vantage point. :) The month of the Lion The summer months of July and August is officially Leo season. Leo is the astrological zodiac sign, represented by the Lion, the kings and queens of the celestial jungle. During this time, The Lion King re-emerges on the big screen (thank you for that bit of nostalgia), reminding me of my youth as well as the path that I'm on now. It served as a moment to turn IN and reflect. Am I serving in the highest way possible? Am I in alignment with my Universal purpose? How can I create and manifest the best possible situations for life, work, passion? It also gave me the cosmic OK to experiment and dare to dream bigger and accomplish more than usual. Example, instead of wonder if something was possible, I would just go for it. Dare yourself to be great! Dare yourself to be the King/Queen you are meant to be! "OH I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO BE KING!!!" ... ask yourself, "What's holding me back!?" Feeling fully committed to this process of seek, discover, awaken, transform, I took some time off to tune IN. What's holding me back!? Over and over this question resonated, vibrated, and echoed within my consciousnesses. Getting really personal with myself, I asked questions and really, really listened for the answer. Uncovering and revealing the hurt, the love, the worry, the faith, the belief, the anticipation, the MAGIC. "YOU"... In the end, the answer I was already aware of and afraid of presented itself to me. I am holding my own self back....silly! Don't do that!!! So off again I go, reminding myself to be FIERCE, be VULNERABLE, be FLEXIBLE, don't be afraid to say NO AND YES!, CHALLENGE myself daily, WRITE, LAUGH, CRY, BE...the list goes on and on... Remembering when I was a child, I was very inquisitive, always questioning and looking for more information. I have held onto that trait and apply it to my life today. Why am I doing what I do? Why does this happen when xyz occurs?..cause and effect. I also take this inquisitiveness into my practice as I work with others. 'Krishana', I say (yes I call myself in the third person when speaking truths to my human self, regaining focus, remembering ...Try it. Speak in the affirmative, a positive statement reminding yourself of who you are. Call yourself by your name and really letting it resonate...) 'you are given many gifts. Use them! You don't have to deconstruct them and figure out why they are there. All the information you have has already been given to you. And when the time comes for more information, you will know where to find it.' The cooling of the season: Fire, the element associated with Leo, represents fullness and life. It is closely associated with the Sun, strength, activity, blood, and life-force energy. It is also seen as highly purifying and protective, consuming impurities and driving back the darkness. This summer was full of cleansing energy, manifesting magic, filling up and receiving. Upbeat and intense, this summer has left us with many adventures and lessons to remind us that LIFE is a gift. (Fire can also be devastating and destructive. With July being the hottest month in recorded history, record fires have impacted the globe...prayers go out to the Amazon, Alaska, the Canary Islands, the Arctic and all the other areas affected by the devastation of widespread wildfires). As the hot summer months are soon to come to a close, work to remain determined, action-oriented, and focused on growing and developing further. Keep the Lion spirit! Focus on your inner Lion: As we transition, keeping the courage and strength of the lion often requires us to release and let go! Lion's breath in yoga, Simhasana, allows you to do just that! Blow off steam, stretch your face, unclench your teeth/jaw, adding ease to your practice and to the present moment. Lion's Breath relieves tension, tightness and stress by stretching your entire face, including the jaw and tongue. Lion's breath will feel silly at first; it will introduce some ease into your mind/body and remind you not to take yourself too seriously. If you are getting overheated, try this breath to blow off some steam. It is often practiced first thing in the morning to warm you up and increase your energy and improve circulation. It’s an energetic and awakening breath. Lion’s Breath opens the throat chakra and helps to boost confidence. Like Ujjayi breathing, it’s a warming breath that will increase your internal temperature and better prepare you for yoga asana. According to traditional texts, Simhasana destroys disease and facilitates the three major bandhas (Mula, Jalandhara, Uddiyana). The Practice: Sit in a comfortable seated position and close your eyes for a few slow deep breaths. Many people like to practice Lions Breath sitting on their heels, with knees together and spine tall and straight. A neutral seat is also welcome here, on the floor or in a chair with hands resting on your thighs. Take a few moments to deepen your breath and find an even length inhalation and exhalation. Inhale through your nose. Exhale strongly through your mouth, making a "ha" sound. As you exhale, open your mouth wide and stick your tongue as far out as possible towards your chin. (Your mouth should be as open as possible here. This is Lion’s Breath!!) Try bringing your drishti (internal focus/ gaze) towards your third eye (center of your forehead) or the tip of your nose as you exhale. Inhale, returning to a neutral face. Repeat 4-6 times working your way up to 10 rounds with continued practice. Speed of Practice: The length of inhalations and exhalations should be even in length and speed. The speed depends on the depth of your breath. (YOU determine the speed.) The deeper the breath, the more full you will be. Breathwork increases prana—life force energy—and stretches the muscles in your face, neck, and throat. Let loose and roar!!! "I'm gonna be the mightiest I'm WORKING ON MY ROAAAR! " From time to time I would notice myself wondering "what keeps so many people so motivated/strong/resilient/persistent and how can I tap into some of that!?" The path to the answer has been a long journey that continues to unfold today. In discovering the answer, I began to understand much about myself; the things I say to myself, the schedule that I keep/adhere to, and the relationships I have. I am a great work in progress and am happy to say I understand more now of how to cultivate this strength in order to call upon it in situations where it is needed the most.
For some, strength may be a physical manifestation: the body and how strong it is. For others strength may be completely mental: the mind and what it can endure/withstand. For others, strength is the relationship formed and maintained with something greater...spirit. And lastly, for yogis we have the trifecta, the joining or yoking of the physical, mental, and spiritual strength. "I express myself in a powerful way." This journey has lead me deeper into the questioning and answering of a lifetime of hows and whys. Where does this strength come from? Where do we start/look to obtain it? How long will it last? etc etc etc... The END is the BEGINNING: The Summer Solstice occurs this year on June 21. The solstice marks the first day of summer and the longest day of the year. The word Solstice stems from the Latin word solstitium with Sol meaning "Sun" and Sistere meaning "To make stand, stand still." Sol = Sun; is represented by the Element of Fire. June 21 also marks International Yoga Day. Yoga, meaning to yoke or unite, symbolizes the connection of the body to life. Yoga is a practice of the mind, of the body, and of the spirit. On this day, June 21, we are intimately yoked to the changing of the seasons, remembering as we reconnect with life’s divine plan and feel deeply connected to all of life. "I am strong and courageous." The Solar Plexus: the third chakra, wheel/energy center, of the body, is represented by the sun, the element of fire. Fire can be both purifying/cleansing and nourishing yet it can also be destructive. The belly, the area where the solar plexus lays can be a great source of strength and power. As the sun (sol) is the the source of life in the solar system, the navel (the location of the solar plexus) represents the source of life in the body. In the womb ,we are connected to our mother via an umbilical cord, which, when severed, becomes the navel. From this area ones courage, voice, breath, energy, stamina, and drive develop. "I stand up for myself." PRACTICE: Breath of Fire A practice to strengthen the core and awaken the solar plexus. Beginners start slow. 30 seconds, and at a slower rate. The key here, pace yourself.
"I choose the best for myself." Source of Power: Source of Strength As you move throughout the rest of this day and the remaining summer months, do something every day that allows you to feel strong. Deepen your relationships with those most important to you so they can lift you up. Begin a strength training regiment. BREATHE * CONNECT * RELEASE content created by ~Dr. Krishana~ As an entrepreneur, a student of life, a teacher, and forever in practice there are days when everything seems so spot on and life, in that moment, just makes sense...then there are days when "nothing" seems to go "right". Some days I want to throw in the towel and give it all up, but then I remember my why. A phone call from a client, a strategically placed message from a friend, a stranger, or the universe that changes my perspective and makes me quiet down...slow down...listen.
Today as I was out talking to a fellow colleague, I was reminded in a simple sentence about shift...When business/life/success seems to be going so wrong, sometimes all it takes is a small adjustment. As Tony Robbins so eloquently calls it the "2 millimeter rule." This rule not only works for people "in the struggle", it also works for people who are rocking and rolling. We all can THRIVE in life by making small changes to how we do things. So what is this 2 millimeter shift you ask? It's the concept that the slightest adjustment gives yield to the biggest results. Think about it for a moment....Have you ever played golf or went bowling? 2mm can be the difference between a slice and a shank while driving or a strike and a spare after the release. Minuscule adjustments are made all the time, however, honing in on them and intentionally administering "tiny" changes will help set you up for great success. The days when business is "failing" and you ask/tell yourself that nothing is working, success can seem so out of reach. The break through before or even after the breakdown occurs are in those "tiny" habits that add up- a week, a month, or even a year from now- that make such a profound difference. No one went into business knowing everything AND there are people who have been in business longer than you who have tools to help you succeed. When I first started working for myself (I started out personal training, driving around going to clients homes) I was not wildly successful, I was afraid to ask for help, and I was also afraid to fail. But I didn't let fear keep me from trying, however, fear did hinder me from growing. I look back today at those times and notice many shifts that I could have made in order to grow in practice. What are some shifts that You can make in your business and in your life that can lead to more success/fulfillment!? How do you determine where to begin? I know for many, beginning can be the most daunting. Sometimes we set such high expectations on ourselves that once we don't meet it we automatically give up. Zig Ziglar (a youtube mentor of mine) said it best: If you have a child that's learning to walk, after how many failed attempts are you going give up on that child and say 'You'll never be able to walk'? Instead we give them chance after chance until one day, they are walking!... We need to decrease the defeat mindset we place on ourselves and allow ourselves to try, fail, and try again! Failure is always an option. That's where growth occurs (think working out/building muscle. You have to push your body to a point of failure to overcome/get stronger). Let's get to it: List/write/brainstorm/draw...what is working right now. What sparks joy, what lights you up, what drives you to get out of bed each day!? Understand what is working and document your current "success strategies". Anticipate the biggest areas of challenge, then create a plan to target/combat disruptive routines. Move toward impact! Evaluate your successes and failures and mentally/spiritually prepare for whats to come. Ask yourself what contributes to your success? What are some factors that have created challenges? What KEY decisions have you made over the last year and what were the results of those choices? How are you going to maintain your strengths and build on your weaknesses? Remember here that the little things/tiny habits, aren't small; they are everything! It's the 2mm shifts that make the greatest transformation. There will still be obstacles and road blocks but success is always within reach. Bitter foods help activate the liver and encourage the production of digestive enzymes and juices so the stomach can better digest food. With the birth of modern food processing, most of our food’s bitterness was stripped away in favor of salty and sweet flavors. Because of this, bitterness is lacking and our digestive systems don’t always operate as well as they should.
Taking digestive bitters before a large meal can help stoke the digestive fire and replace the bitter flavor that is missing from our food. Consuming bitters at least 15 minutes before eating has been shown to aid digestion, stimulate bile juices, and calm the nerves. Not only that, but when you taste bitters, your heart rate slows down, and your glandular and intestinal activity increases priming your stomach to digest efficiently (parasympathetic nervous system turns on). WHAT ARE BITTERS? Bitters are highly concentrated liquid tonics made from a variety of plants. A strong alcohol is infused with spices, roots, tree bark, seeds, fruit, herbs, flowers, and berries to create a potent and flavorful liquid. Bitters were originally created and put on the market for medicinal purposes making claims to restore your health; this is because bitter flavors stimulate digestion which help improve many digestive related problems from gases and stomach aches to reducing sugar cravings, and potentially balancing appetite and helping with nausea. THE BITTER BENEFITS: Because the modern diet is mostly made of sweet and salty foods, we don't eat as many bitter foods anymore. In fact, a lot of normally bitter foods may have been modified over the years to reduce their bitterness. Eating bitter foods regularly, like dandelion leaf or arugula, has been shown to help improve and sooth gas, bloating, occasional heartburn, calm an upset stomach, balance appetite, curb sugar cravings, regulate bowel movements, support live and healthy skin, and more. Bitter foods can help stimulate your liver and gallbladder, which improves digestion; this, in turn, eases your tummy and can help make you feel better in general. Side Note/Disclaimers/Warnings: This post is meant to be informative only. It is not meant to diagnose or treat any medical condition. You should either avoid or be extremely cautious with bitters (talk to your doctor before using) if you are pregnant or have kidney stones, stomach ulcers, gallbladder disease, GERD, gastritis, or any other digestive condition. 10 BENEFITS OF BITTERS 1) Improves protein digestion and mineral absorption 2) Improves breakdown of fats and fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, K 3) Reduce gas and bloating 4) Relieve occasional heartburn 5) Promote regular bowel movements 6) Reduce food sensitivities 7) Breakdown microbes and prevent SIBO & yeast overgrowth 8) In Ayurvedic tradition, bitters are known to reduce sweet cravings and regulate blood sugar 9) In Chinese medicine, bitters are cooling and remove “heat” from the body (aka inflammation) 10) Eclectics promote digestive bitters for improved detoxification, healthy skin, improved joint pain and healthy mood. WHEN TO TAKE BITTERS: Bitters are best taken before a meal to support digestion. Take a dropper full in a small amount of water, tea or soda water shortly before a meal. If you suffer from heartburn, start with a very low dose and increase slowly as tolerated. Bitters are not recommended if you suffer from gastritis, stomach ulcer, gallbladder disease or kidney disease. Use bitters for occasional heartburn and indigestion, sipping a small amount after a meal. Use them for gas and bloating, by taking them before you eat to ignite the digestive fire, and support the production of hydrochloric acid, pancreatic enzymes and bile, and help ensure normal bowel habits. -"In the lobby of WeWork in downtown Manhattan, a futuristic box in the corner looks more like a robot than a vending machine. Two doors, each equipped with a monitor, entice passersby with photos of mason jar salads and yogurt bowls topped with fruit. After a few taps of the screen, a glass container of granola is dispensed, topped off with a purple smoothie from a spout hidden in the machine, and this breakfast açaí bowl is ready." - According to U.S. statistics from Brandongaille.com: There are an estimated 4.6 million vending machines in the U.S. and healthier snack options far outsell traditional snack foods by 300 percent. In fact, some locales have legislation in place to mandate healthier choices in food/drink vending machines. But new trends are taking shape in the vending machine market. Snacks are being replaced by healthy meal options and what was once a quick trip to the vending machine can now become a breakfast, lunch, or dinner option. "We believe we're on the brink of a food paradigm shift. People want healthy food, but they don't always have the time to make it themselves or sit down at a restaurant. Vending machines will help fill this gap by providing easy, fast, hassle-free food for consumers on-the-go." Joe and Brittaney Kerby- co-founders of Alpaca Market. With the convenience of vending machines and the shift in healthier eating, it was only a matter of time before companies began to follow the habits of healthier eating. We find ourselves at a moment in history when vending machines make a lot of sense: They're convenient, they're fast, they're affordable—and they're finally getting a healthy makeover. In addition to giving more people access to healthy, delicious meals and snacks on-the-go, healthy vending options help the other goal of the business: cutting back on the waste usually associated with packaged food. Fresh, healthy, and plastic-free vending machines are a new concept popping up around the US. Farmer’s Fridge: a Chicago-based startup that sells salads, bowls, and snacks in vending machines just closed a $30 million financing round. Currently, the company has about 185 machines in Chicago and Milwaukee. This money will help to open 225 more vending machines across the Midwest. Wellness is about a ones internal experience of their body (awareness), the ability to make constructive and healthy choices, and the ability to enjoy life and be well/balanced.
The feeling of BEing alive/vital/prana. We perceive our world through our nervous system It is through our nervous system that we coordinate the function of every cell, organ, and tissue within our body. Every region of the body and every emotion is expressed through the nervous system. It is the vehicle we use to create our conscious reality. Our nervous system allows our inner world to interact with our outer world. So, when an event occurs that our brain decides is not safe for us to fully experience (safety mechanism for survival) at that particular time, the energy and information of the event is translated into vibration and tension which is then stored in the body until we are ready address it later... (For most, this later never comes). The vibrations of tension are ignored, (E)motion=Energy in Motion...when we are children, we are so good at emoting because we haven't developed the strategies to eloquently voice our feelings of dislike, hurt, pain ----instead we scream, cry, and throw things; going for the all out tantrum I was so fond of in my youth. In a sense, this is healthy behavior because we are releasing the energy from within us. As adults, we are no longer encouraged to cry, yell, fall out, shake and have a full on tantrum....we would be emitted into the psych ward I'm certain or remain heavily medicated (don't cope, take dope mentality). and become tension within the fascia, over time distorting the spinal system. The spinal bones (vertebrae) lose their normal range of motion and alignment. Muscles and ligaments begin to pull and strain and the nerves become compressed or stretched and irritated in that area/region, resulting in abnormal/unhealthy function. As the nervous system is put under pressure, the spine is no longer able to right itself. Outside intervention is called upon. Think analgesic, surgery, nerve blocks, massage, acupuncture, chiropractic, yoga, reiki, etc...Our body "closes off" to the offending energy and tension and over time, muscular tightness, spinal distortion, reduction of breath/oxygen into the area occurs, consequently resulting in reduction of movement/decreased range of motion, leading to cellular death/decay (if its not moving, its dying). Until it is safe to experience the energy and information of the trauma, one cannot fully heal or feel whole. A new strategy for healing We are looking to reorganize and develop strategies in order to experience and release the traumas of our bodies. Tension reduces/ dissipates and our system "reboots" with techniques such as breathwork, somatic embodiment, and yoga therapy, each person is able to connect the brain to the body more effectively developing a capacity to self -heal and self -correct their latent tension patterns. The brain/body connection encourages spontaneous stretching movements and enhance the breath/oxygen into those areas of vibrational dissonance (tension) which helps release tension in the spine, nervous system, and throughout the rest of the body (think fascial system here). Detoxifying, cleansing, and awakening/restoring the Chi where it was disrupted. Lack of safety is the basis for all physiological stress and the way we accumulate this stress is directly associated with the way we experience the world (perception). |
